About our Kingston Bloom Plaster Ceiling Rose

Design & Detailing

The Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 540mm is a medium sized ornamental ceiling feature defined by a sculpted floral centre surrounded by finely detailed perimeter enrichment. The centre of the rose incorporates layered leaf and floral forms that create a bold botanical focal point. These natural forms radiate outward toward a decorative perimeter band that includes subtle egg and dart detailing, producing a structured circular composition.

As a traditional plaster ceiling rose, the design balances flowing botanical ornament with classical architectural enrichment. The floral centre introduces depth and visual texture while the perimeter detailing frames the composition and maintains a clear circular structure within the ceiling.

Victorian Influence

This period ceiling rose reflects decorative traditions associated with Victorian interior plasterwork, where elaborate botanical ornament and classical decorative bands were frequently combined. During the nineteenth century floral motifs were widely used to create striking ceiling centrepieces that emphasised the architectural centre of the room.

The mixture of foliage and classical perimeter enrichment aligns closely with many Victorian style ceiling rose installations found in traditional interiors. These designs often introduced richly detailed centrepieces that complemented decorative cornices and other ornamental plaster mouldings.

Size & Ceiling Proportion

The Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 540mm in diameter (approximately 21.5 inches) has a maximum thickness of 30mm. This proportion makes the rose suitable for medium sized rooms where modest ceiling heights allow decorative plasterwork to remain balanced within the surrounding space.

The centre of the rose is fully decorative and is best suited for use with a small cup fitting positioned beneath the central ornament. This design works very well alongside traditional plaster decorative mouldings.

Craftsmanship & Material

Each Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 540mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting techniques followed by careful hand finishing. This ensures the layered floral centre and fine perimeter detailing remain crisp and clearly defined across the moulding.

Fibrous plaster allows intricate botanical ornament and classical detailing to retain their sharp definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to heritage plaster mouldings. The result is a refined decorative ceiling feature that introduces Victorian character and architectural presence to the centre of the room.
