About our Highbury Flair Plaster Ceiling Rose
Design & Detailing
The Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 530mm is a medium sized ornamental ceiling feature characterised by a sculpted floral centre framed by a restrained circular outer band. The central motif incorporates layered botanical detailing that forms a symmetrical floral composition, introducing texture and depth to the centre of the ceiling. The surrounding perimeter remains largely plain, allowing the central ornament to provide the primary visual focus.
As a traditional plaster ceiling rose, the design combines decorative botanical detail with a controlled circular structure. This approach creates a balanced ceiling centrepiece where the floral motif draws the eye inward while the outer ring maintains a clear architectural boundary within the ceiling surface.
Victorian Influence
This period ceiling rose reflects decorative traditions associated with Victorian interior plasterwork, where floral ornament frequently formed the centre of decorative ceiling compositions. During the nineteenth century botanical forms were widely incorporated into plaster mouldings to create elegant architectural focal points.
The structured floral centre used in this design aligns closely with many Victorian style ceiling rose installations found within traditional interiors. These designs often balanced detailed centre ornament with simpler outer forms to maintain proportion within the surrounding ceiling space.
Size & Ceiling Proportion
The Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 530mm in diameter (approximately 21 inches) has a maximum thickness of 40mm. This proportion places the rose comfortably within medium sized rooms where modest ceiling heights benefit from decorative plasterwork that remains visually balanced.
The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 80mm in diameter, allowing pendant fittings to pass neatly through the centre while the surrounding floral ornament frames the lighting point.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 530mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting techniques followed by careful hand finishing. This ensures the floral centre remains crisp and clearly defined across the moulding.
Fibrous plaster allows intricate botanical ornament to retain its sharp definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to plaster decorative mouldings. The result is a refined decorative ceiling feature that introduces Victorian character and visual interest to the centre of the room.
