About our Mayfair Plaster Ceiling Rose - 1400mm
Design & Detailing
The Georgian Plain plaster ceiling rose 1400mm is an exceptionally large architectural ceiling feature defined by a series of prominent concentric rings that radiate outward from the centre of the design. Rather than relying on heavy ornament, the composition uses clean stepped contours to establish structure and proportion across the ceiling surface.
The layered ring arrangement introduces gentle shadow lines that create depth without overwhelming the surrounding space. As a large ceiling rose, the restrained geometry allows the moulding to form a clear focal point while remaining adaptable to a wide range of interiors. The simplicity of the design makes it particularly effective within large rooms where scale rather than intricate ornament defines the visual impact.
Georgian Influence
This traditional ceiling rose reflects the restrained decorative language often associated with Georgian interior plasterwork. During the eighteenth century many ceiling centres relied on balanced geometry and measured proportions rather than elaborate sculptural detail.
The use of concentric rings aligns closely with traditional Georgian ceiling roses found in formal reception rooms and larger domestic interiors. These designs were frequently paired with classical cornices and panel mouldings, helping to organise the ceiling space while maintaining a refined architectural character.
Size & Ceiling Proportion
The Georgian Plain plaster ceiling rose 1400mm in diameter (approximately 55 inches) has a maximum thickness of 65mm. This substantial scale is intended for large rooms with tall ceiling heights where a significant ceiling feature is required to maintain visual balance across the space.
The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 200mm in diameter, allowing larger chandeliers or statement pendant fittings to pass through the centre while the surrounding rings frame the lighting position.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each Georgian Plain plaster ceiling rose 1400mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting techniques followed by careful hand finishing. This ensures the large concentric rings remain consistent and clearly defined across the entire surface of the moulding.
Fibrous plaster allows the clean architectural contours to retain sharp definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to heritage plaster mouldings. The result is a substantial architectural ceiling feature that introduces Georgian proportion and structure to large interior spaces.
