About our Medium Swag and drop Plaster Ceiling Rose
Design & Detailing
The Georgian Ornate plaster ceiling rose 520mm is a medium sized decorative ceiling feature defined by a restrained circular centre framed by delicate swag and drop detailing. The central form remains relatively minimal, allowing the surrounding ornamental band to introduce movement and rhythm through the suspended swag motifs. A fine leaf perimeter enrichment completes the composition, creating a structured yet decorative traditional plaster ceiling rose.
Georgian Influence
This egg and dart ceiling rose reflects decorative traditions associated with Georgian interior plasterwork, where classical ornament was often arranged in refined and carefully proportioned compositions. Swag and drop motifs were widely used during the eighteenth century to introduce subtle decorative movement into architectural plaster mouldings. The restrained ornament and balanced circular layout align closely with the style seen across many Georgian ceiling roses used within traditional period interiors.
Size & Ceiling Proportion
The Georgian Ornate plaster ceiling rose 520mm in diameter (approximately 20.5 inches) has a maximum thickness of 25mm. This proportion places the rose comfortably within medium sized rooms where modest ceiling heights benefit from decorative plasterwork that remains visually balanced. The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 80mm in diameter, allowing pendant fittings to pass neatly through the centre of the design. Its scale works well within interiors that have newly installed or original plaster decorative mouldings.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each Georgian Ornate plaster ceiling rose 520mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting methods followed by careful hand finishing. This manufacturing process uses the highest quality materials and ensures the swag detailing, leaf enrichment and surrounding contours remain crisp and well defined across the moulding on every cast. Fibrous plaster allows fine decorative features to retain their clarity once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to heritage plaster mouldings.
