The Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 440mm is a compact decorative ceiling centre formed from a structured ringed composition combined with a classical egg and dart perimeter. The centre of the design is shaped using a series of concentric circular bands that create gentle stepped depth while maintaining a calm architectural core.

Encircling this central structure is a pronounced egg and dart moulding that forms a continuous decorative border around the outer edge of the rose. This classical ornament introduces rhythm and texture while reinforcing the circular geometry of the design. As a small ceiling rose, the moulding combines restrained central form with detailed perimeter enrichment.

Georgian Influence

This period ceiling rose reflects decorative approaches associated with Georgian interior plasterwork, where classical motifs were widely incorporated into architectural decoration. The egg and dart pattern originates from ancient Greek ornament and became a defining feature within many eighteenth century plaster mouldings.

The combination of ringed centre bands and perimeter egg and dart enrichment aligns closely with many Georgian ceiling roses installed in period homes. Such designs were frequently paired with classical cornices and panel mouldings to produce balanced decorative schemes within Georgian interiors.

Size & Ceiling Proportion

The Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 440mm in diameter (approximately 17.5 inches) has a maximum thickness of 40mm. This proportion makes the rose well suited to medium sized rooms where modest ceiling heights allow decorative plasterwork to remain visually balanced within the surrounding ceiling area.

The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 115mm in diameter, allowing pendant fittings or smaller chandeliers to pass through the centre while the surrounding ornament frames the lighting position.

Craftsmanship & Material

Each Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 440mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting techniques followed by careful hand finishing. This ensures the concentric ring structure and egg and dart perimeter remain crisp and clearly defined across the moulding.

Fibrous plaster allows classical ornament to retain sharp definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to heritage plaster mouldings. The result is a refined architectural ceiling feature that introduces Georgian decorative character to the centre of the room.
