About our Small Plain Bead Plaster Ceiling Rose
Design & Detailing
The Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 380mm is a compact ornamental ceiling feature defined by a restrained circular centre surrounded by a prominent beaded perimeter band. The centre of the rose is formed using gentle contoured shaping which provides subtle depth while maintaining a calm surface across the central portion of the moulding.
Encircling the outer edge, a pronounced bead detail introduces a rhythmic architectural pattern that gives the design its decorative character. As a small ceiling rose, the composition balances simplicity with classical ornament, allowing the moulding to provide visual interest without dominating the ceiling space.
Georgian Influence
This period ceiling rose reflects decorative themes frequently associated with Georgian interior plasterwork. During the eighteenth century bead mouldings were widely used across architectural detailing, appearing in cornices, panel mouldings and ceiling centres to introduce controlled decorative rhythm.
The combination of a simple contoured centre and perimeter bead enrichment aligns with many Georgian ceiling roses installed in traditional period properties. Such designs often relied on balanced ornament arranged within clear circular geometry, ensuring the ceiling remained elegant rather than overly decorative.
Size & Ceiling Proportion
The Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 380mm in diameter (approximately 15 inches) has a maximum thickness of 40mm. This compact scale makes the rose particularly suitable for smaller rooms where modest ceiling heights benefit from decorative plasterwork that remains visually balanced within the surrounding ceiling area.
The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 100mm in diameter, allowing pendant fittings to pass neatly through the centre while the surrounding bead detail frames the lighting position. The design and size work well within interiors incorporating new or existing plaster decorative mouldings.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 380mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting methods followed by careful hand finishing. This ensures the beaded perimeter detail remains crisp and evenly defined around the entire moulding.
Fibrous plaster allows decorative mouldings to retain their sharp definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to heritage plaster mouldings. The result is a refined ceiling feature that introduces subtle Georgian architectural character to the centre of the room.
