About our Small Richmond Plain Plaster Ceiling Rose
Design & Detailing
The Edwardian Plain plaster ceiling rose 390mm is a medium sized ceiling feature formed from a series of plain contoured rings arranged in a balanced circular composition. The design relies on clean moulded profiles rather than heavy ornamentation, allowing the stepped rings to introduce subtle depth and architectural definition across the ceiling surface. As a small ceiling rose, the form provides a calm centrepiece that frames the lighting point while maintaining a restrained decorative presence.
Edwardian Influence
This period ceiling rose reflects the restrained decorative approach commonly associated with Edwardian interiors. During this period many ceiling designs favoured proportion and clarity rather than elaborate ornament, using simple moulded rings to create gentle shadow lines. These understated forms are widely seen across many traditional plaster ceiling rose installations where architectural balance is preferred over heavier decoration.
Size & Ceiling Proportion
The Edwardian plain plaster ceiling rose 390mm in diameter (approximately 15.5 inches) has a maximum thickness of 18mm. This relatively shallow profile allows the rose to sit comfortably within small to medium sized rooms where modest ceiling heights benefit from decorative plasterwork that remains visually light. The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 80mm in diameter, allowing pendant fittings to pass neatly through the centre. Its proportions work well within interiors incorporating new and existing plaster decorative mouldings.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each Edwardian Plain plaster ceiling rose 390mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting techniques followed by careful hand finishing. Each cast is manufactured from the highest quality materials which ensures the concentric ring profiles remain crisp and consistent across the entire moulding. Fibrous plaster allows the clean contours to retain their definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to heritage projects.
