About our Dentil Leaf Plaster Ceiling Rose
Design & Detailing
The Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 450mm is a medium sized decorative ceiling feature defined by a floral centre surrounded by a structured architectural perimeter. The centre of the rose incorporates a sculpted botanical composition that introduces depth and texture while forming a natural focal point within the ceiling.
Encircling the floral centre is a narrow band of dentil blocks arranged in a continuous circular pattern. These small rectangular projections create a rhythmic architectural edge that contrasts with the softer botanical detailing at the centre. As a traditional plaster ceiling rose, the design combines classical geometry with decorative leaf ornament to produce a balanced ceiling centre.
Georgian Influence
This period ceiling rose reflects decorative traditions associated with Georgian interior plasterwork. During the eighteenth century classical architectural motifs such as dentil mouldings were widely used within cornices and ceiling centres to introduce formal structure to decorative schemes.
The combination of floral ornament with a disciplined dentil perimeter aligns closely with many Georgian ceiling roses installed in traditional interiors. These designs often blended classical architectural forms with botanical decoration, creating balanced compositions suited to formal period rooms.
Size & Ceiling Proportion
The Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 450mm in diameter (approximately 17.5 inches) has a maximum thickness of 25mm. This scale makes the rose well suited to small or medium sized rooms where modest ceiling heights benefit from decorative plasterwork that remains visually balanced within the surrounding ceiling area.
The centre of the rose is decorative and is best suited for use with a small cup style ceiling fitting. Its design and proportions work comfortably within projects with existing dentil moulding interior details.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 450mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting techniques followed by careful hand finishing. This ensures the floral centre and dentil perimeter remain crisp and clearly defined across the moulding.
Fibrous plaster allows intricate decorative elements to retain their sharp definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to heritage plaster mouldings. The result is a refined architectural ceiling feature that introduces classical Georgian character to the centre of the room.
