Design & Detailing

The Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 390mm is a compact ornamental ceiling feature defined by a restrained circular centre framed by classical perimeter enrichment. The central portion of the design remains largely plain, allowing the surrounding decorative band to introduce architectural detail without overwhelming the composition. Around the outer edge a carefully modelled egg and dart pattern is combined with small bead mouldings, forming a structured circular border.

As a small ceiling rose, the composition relies on balanced classical ornament arranged within a clear circular framework. The decorative perimeter creates visual depth while the central surface remains calm and uncluttered, allowing the lighting position to sit comfortably within the overall design.

Georgian Influence

This egg and dart ceiling rose reflects decorative traditions associated with Georgian interior plasterwork, where classical architectural motifs were widely used within decorative mouldings. The egg and dart pattern originates from ancient Greek ornament and was frequently incorporated into eighteenth century plaster decoration.

The Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 390mm in diameter (approximately 15.5 inches) has a maximum thickness of 25mm. This compact scale makes the rose particularly suitable for smaller rooms where modest ceiling heights benefit from decorative plasterwork that remains visually balanced.

The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 75mm in diameter, allowing pendant fittings to pass neatly through the centre while the surrounding ornament frames the lighting point. Its proportions work well within interiors incorporating various other plaster decorative mouldings.

Craftsmanship & Material

Each Georgian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 390mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting techniques followed by careful hand finishing. This process ensures the egg and dart perimeter and bead detailing remain crisp and clearly defined across the moulding.

Fibrous plaster allows classical decorative patterns to retain their sharp definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to heritage plaster mouldings. The result is a refined decorative ceiling feature that introduces subtle Georgian architectural character to the centre of the room.
