About our Eton Leaf Plaster Ceiling Rose
Design & Detailing
The Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 360mm is a compact ornamental ceiling feature defined by a sharply modelled floral centre framed by a restrained plain perimeter. The central motif introduces a sculpted arrangement of leaves that form a crisp botanical focal point within the circular composition. The surrounding outer band remains largely plain, allowing the detailed floral centre to stand out clearly against the surrounding ceiling surface.
As a small ceiling rose, the design relies on concentrated ornament within the centre while maintaining a controlled circular outline. This approach allows the decorative leaf forms to create visual interest without overwhelming the proportions of smaller rooms.
Victorian Influence
This period ceiling rose reflects decorative themes widely associated with Victorian interior plasterwork, where botanical motifs were commonly used to create elegant ceiling centrepieces. Floral and leaf ornament became a defining feature of nineteenth century plaster decoration, often arranged in radial patterns that emphasised the lighting position within the ceiling.
The structured floral centre used in this design aligns closely with many Victorian style ceiling rose installations found in traditional interiors. These smaller decorative designs were frequently used in bedrooms, hallways and reception rooms where modest ceiling proportions required balanced ornament.
Size & Ceiling Proportion
The Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 360mm in diameter (approximately 14 inches) has a maximum thickness of 35mm. This compact scale makes the rose particularly suitable for smaller rooms where modest ceiling heights benefit from decorative plasterwork that remains visually light and proportionate.
The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 75mm in diameter, allowing pendant fittings to pass neatly through the centre while the surrounding floral ornament frames the lighting point. Its proportions work well within interiors incorporating new or existing plaster decorative mouldings.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 360mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting techniques followed by careful hand finishing. This ensures the sharp leaf detailing within the floral centre remains crisp and clearly defined across the moulding.
Fibrous plaster allows intricate botanical ornament to retain its definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to heritage plaster mouldings. The result is a refined decorative ceiling feature that introduces subtle Victorian character to the centre of the room.
