About our Kensington Plaster Ceiling Rose
Design & Detailing
The Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 485mm is a medium sized ornamental ceiling feature characterised by a floral composition arranged within a balanced circular structure. The design incorporates layered leaf and floral elements that create a sculpted centrepiece, introducing texture and visual movement across the surface of the moulding. These botanical details are organised in a radial arrangement that draws attention toward the lighting position.
As a traditional plaster ceiling rose, the design relies on natural foliage motifs to create a decorative focal point while maintaining a clear circular outline within the ceiling. The floral ornament provides visual richness while the surrounding structure ensures the composition remains architecturally balanced.
Victorian Influence
This period ceiling rose reflects decorative characteristics commonly associated with Victorian interior plasterwork, where botanical ornament played a prominent role in ceiling decoration. During the nineteenth century floral designs were frequently used to create elegant centrepieces that introduced texture and artistic detail to interior spaces.
The naturalistic foliage detailing seen in this design aligns with many Victorian style ceiling rose installations used within traditional interiors. These designs were often chosen to complement other decorative plaster features while providing a central point of interest within the ceiling.
Size & Ceiling Proportion
The Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 485mm in diameter (approximately 19 inches) has a maximum thickness of 30mm. This proportion places the rose comfortably within small to medium sized rooms where modest ceiling heights benefit from decorative plasterwork that remains visually balanced.
The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 70mm in diameter, allowing pendant fittings to pass through the centre while the surrounding ornament frames the lighting position. Its scale works well within interiors incorporating other plaster decorative mouldings.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each Victorian Decorative plaster ceiling rose 485mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting techniques followed by careful hand finishing. This ensures the floral detailing remains crisp and clearly defined across the entire moulding.
Fibrous plaster allows the botanical ornament to retain sharp definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to heritage plaster mouldings. The result is a refined decorative ceiling feature that introduces Victorian character and visual interest to the centre of the room.
