About our 3 Step Art Deco Plaster Ceiling Rose
Design & Detailing
The Art Deco plaster ceiling rose 470mm is a medium sized geometric ceiling feature defined by a sequence of stepped circular rings arranged concentrically around the lighting point. The three stepped bands create a crisp architectural profile that introduces depth through shadow rather than ornate surface detail. Each step forms a clean transition between levels, producing a structured centrepiece that reflects the restrained decorative language associated with early twentieth century interiors.
As a traditional plaster ceiling rose, the design demonstrates how simple geometric shaping can provide a clear focal point within the ceiling. The stepped rings guide the eye toward the lighting position while maintaining a balanced circular form that sits comfortably within both period and contemporary decorative schemes.
Art Deco Influence
This period ceiling rose reflects the geometric character commonly associated with Art Deco interior plasterwork. During the early twentieth century decorative plaster designs frequently moved away from classical foliage ornament and instead adopted stepped forms, bold symmetry and simplified architectural shapes.
The circular stepped pattern seen here mirrors many architectural motifs used within art deco ceiling rose designs as well as cornices and lighting details from the same period. These geometric forms allowed decorative plaster features to introduce architectural definition while maintaining a clean and modern appearance.
Size & Ceiling Proportion
The Art Deco plaster ceiling rose 470mm in diameter (approximately 18.5 inches) has a maximum thickness of 36mm. This scale makes the rose suitable for small to medium sized rooms where modest ceiling heights benefit from a structured ceiling centrepiece that remains visually light.
The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 150mm in diameter, allowing larger pendant fittings or chandelier cups to sit comfortably within the centre of the rose. Its proportion works well within interiors incorporating traditional heritage plaster mouldings.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each Art Deco plaster ceiling rose 470mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting methods followed by careful hand finishing. This ensures the stepped rings remain crisp and evenly formed across the entire moulding.
Fibrous plaster allows the geometric edges to retain sharp definition once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to architectural plasterwork. The result is a refined ceiling feature that introduces subtle Art Deco character and structural clarity to the centre of the room.
