About our Large Harvest Plaster Ceiling Rose

Design & Detailing

The Victorian Plain plaster ceiling rose 860mm is a large decorative ceiling feature characterised by a harvest themed composition arranged within a strong circular framework. The large ceiling rose design combines sculpted botanical ornament with a structured beaded perimeter that helps frame the central enrichment. The harvest motif introduces natural forms and flowing detail across the surface of the rose, creating a layered decorative centrepiece that anchors the lighting position within the ceiling.

As a traditional plaster ceiling rose, the composition balances ornamental foliage with a clear architectural outline. The decorative centre provides depth and visual interest while the surrounding band helps contain the ornament within a controlled circular structure, allowing the rose to function as both a decorative and architectural ceiling element.

Victorian Influence

This period ceiling rose reflects decorative traditions commonly associated with Victorian interior plasterwork. During the nineteenth century botanical ornament became widely used in ceiling decoration, often inspired by natural harvest forms and seasonal foliage. These motifs were frequently incorporated into large ceiling centres to introduce visual richness while maintaining the symmetry expected within formal Victorian rooms.

The character of the design aligns closely with the style seen across many Victorian style ceiling rose installations where decorative foliage is arranged in balanced circular compositions that reinforce the architectural structure of the room.

Size & Ceiling Proportion

The Victorian Plain plaster ceiling rose 860mm in diameter (approximately 34 inches) has a maximum thickness of 40mm. This substantial scale makes the rose suitable for larger rooms where modest to tall ceiling heights allow decorative plasterwork to become a central architectural feature.

The centre opening accommodates a light fitting up to 80mm in diameter, allowing pendant fittings or chandelier suspensions to pass through the centre while the surrounding ornament frames the fitting. Its proportions make it well suited to interiors incorporating new or existing heritage plaster mouldings.

Craftsmanship & Material

Each Victorian Plain plaster ceiling rose 860mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk using traditional casting techniques followed by careful hand finishing. This process ensures the harvest ornament and perimeter bead detailing remain crisp and well defined across the moulding.

Fibrous plaster allows intricate botanical elements to retain their clarity once installed and decorated while providing durability suited to architectural plasterwork. The result is a large decorative ceiling feature that introduces scale and Victorian character to the centre of the room.
